WHAt WE DO
REFINISHING · ANTIQUES · INTERIORS · COMMERCIAL & RESIDENTIAL
Antique furniture can live many lives over the years, taking with it traces from those who came before. Whether you’d like to uncover the original wood or breathe new life into a dated piece, we can work with you to create a custom finish. We use thoughtful restoration practices, avoiding over restoring pieces and showcasing historic charm.
Our work involves striping thick coats of paint, working with delicate wood veneer, and replicating intricate designs. We can blend in scars or cosmetic damage, reproduce missing parts, and age those parts to match the rest of the piece. Some of our most interesting projects give new, modern functions to old pieces. We prioritize protecting well worn surfaces, ensuring they will last while still looking the part.
House Call Services
Do you have missing hardware or an armoire door that won’t shut? We can come out to you for minor repairs.
We work mainly in the Greater New Orleans area and are happy to travel to Lafayette, Covington, Mobile and surrounding areas. House call services are also provided to businesses, including hotels, design firms, furniture stores, and restaurants. We offer specialized refinishing for high traffic tables at bars and restaurants.
ABout
D’Aquila Restoration began in a friend’s garage, where owner, Will D’Aquila, made custom pieces out of reclaimed bargeboard. With experience in antique stores and importing, Will combined his craftsmanship and passion for antiquity to create what was then known as Antiek Restoration - the Dutch word for antique paying homage to where he got his start in this industry.
Growing up in a family of tinkerers, painters, and writers, Will was encouraged towards the arts from the beginning. D’Aquila means “of eagle” in Italian, and is the inspiration for our logo. The D’Aquila family immigrated to New Orleans from Sicily in the 19th century. Our name change in 2025 came from a desire to honor our history in both the arts and this city. We hope to make an impact on the preservation of historic homes and continue to serve the New Orleans area for years to come!
